The 1970s

38 pieces

Ten shilling notes, Page 3, long hot summers and Don Revie’s bridge over troubled water. Back to the 70s goes through the decade a year at a time, with an ear on whatever was topping the charts, from Rolf Harris to Mud, which tells you as much as the league table. Around it are Bob Latchford chasing 30 goals for Everton, the other Johan in Neeskens, Brazil’s half-forgotten Minicopa of 1972, Keegan’s summer of ’74 and a Charity Shield that was nothing of the sort. Tommy Docherty and Cloughie both get one of those years.
