Football fans on the social media site Twitter in the last few hours have been reacting to an interesting admission from former Arsenal manager of 22 years, Arsene Wenger.
Wenger, who finally left the Emirates Stadium to be replaced by Unai Emery at the end of the 2017/2018 season, was working for media company and sports broadcaster Bein Sports on their UEFA Champions League coverage of Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Borussia Dortmund when he made the claim.
The admission was that during his days in North London, the three-time Premier League-winning manager tried to sign ex-Manchester City hotshot Jadon Sancho.
The youngster is now flourishing at Dortmund, having established himself as a regular in the starting Xl of the Bundesliga leaders with nearly ten goals in over 30 appearances in the last one-and-a-half seasons. There’s little doubt that Wenger will now regret not getting the deal over the line and Gunners fans, too, will be grimacing.
Here’s how the wider footballing world reacted on Twitter…
