Furious fans of Scottish football have been reacting on the social media site Twitter today to news that Hibernian defender Darnell Johnson will be receiving a two-match ban.
Johnson, currently on loan in the Scottish Premiership from Premier League club Leicester City and the godson of former England striker Emile Heskey, was originally yellow carded for a tackle in Hibs’ last league match, against Celtic.
The challenge was on Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre and saw him leave the field on a stretcher. Hibs have lost an appeal against the decision to ban Darnell for two matches and he will now miss a home clash with Hamilton and a trip to Dundee.
However, many feel that the tackle from the 20-year-old in the 2-0 defeat at Celtic Park, in which Ryan Christie and Ollie Burke struck for Brendan Rogers’ men, was not worthy of the ban. Some of these fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger and below is a selection of some of the best reactive Tweets…
No point in holding out any hope of @HibernianFC standing up and speaking out against this decision. Proven time and time again that only two clubs in Scotland have any chance when it comes to the @ScottishFA

Did Scott Brown and Simunovic also get a 2 game ban for worse challenges that were made in the same game?

Dont be silly parry. Celtic players are not allowed red cards.
Scott brown should have been sent off twice v hibs this season. Sfa are a total biased joke. Consistency certainly doesnt rule.

Meanwhile Celtic players just going about two footed scissor tackling folk and elbowing folk and not a peep from the Celtic supporting compliance officer Clare Whyte….

One rule for one
One for another…nothing changes at the GFA— Ian Toghill (@erskine_hibby) February 12, 2019
Because the SFA make it up as they go along.
