Manchester United fans on the social media site Twitter have been reacting to the news today that centre-back Phil Jones has signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.
The fresh deal will see the 26-year-old England international remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023. by which time he will be 30.
Jones has made over 150 appearances in Manchester since making the move from Blackburn Rovers in 2011, turning out for his nation on 27 occasions in that period, including at two FIFA World Cups.
In the famous red of Man United, Jones has won a Premier League, two FA Cups, a UEFA Europa League and much more, establishing himself as a regular the heart of the United defence or defensive midfield over the years.
However, the mistake-prone defender isn’t always taken seriously and undoubtedly has his fair share of critics. There are also those that adore Jones, not least for some of the facial expressions he is caught pulling out on the football pitch.
