Room 433: Coin Throwing

0

Despite being football fans ourselves you often have to look around your fellow fans and wonder what on earth has possessed you to behave like that? While being a football fan is a great experience, full of a roller coaster of emotions with joy, regret, anger and surprise all along the way there is no getting away from the fact that far too often fans can behave really very stupidly. Luckily that is why Room 433 exists, to lock away those negative things in football and today we are turning our attention to coin throwing.

This is particular relevant at this very moment due to what happened in the Arsenal vs Manchester United game with Jesse Lingard the latest target of this bizarre practice. Lets first look at why coin throwing is such a bad idea. Obviously if you nail a player square in the face with a coin it is really going to bloody hurt. No one ever wants to see a footballer injured, even players you don’t like, and coin throwing is nothing more than a blatant attempt to hurt a player in a potentially serious fashion and honestly it is a pretty disgusting practice.

Coin throwing is not a new problem either, unfortunately Jesse Lingard is not the first footballer to be treated in this way. James McClean has attracted controversy throughout his career and if you want to boo him for his views then that’s absolutely fine but he too has had a coin thrown at him and to be honest it is completely unacceptable. The so called fans that partake in this are simply cowards and deserve lifetime bans from football. This is on a similar level to racially abusing a football player in its unacceptability and the FA needs to make a point here and ban anyone permanently who has thrown a coin.

On a lighter note coin throwing is the definition of wasting money. Now I’m sure dear readers that you are far too sensible to even contemplate throwing a coin at a football player but if that thought crosses your mind or anyone around you at a game remind yourself what an awful practice coin throwing is.

So that is this week’s entry into Room 433 wrapped up nicely. Room 433 has going since the very birth of Sacked in the Morning so go back and check out some of the earlier entries, The European Super League is a personal favourite of mine.
