The English Premier League is in full swing, the season so far has already produced roller-coaster emotions for many fans. At the time this article is being written, Arsenal is looking unstoppable and might look to recreate the “Invincible” season of 2003-04.
That being said, it’s still too early to conclude who will be crowned champion, let’s take a look at the current top 5 teams and their predicted standings by the end of the season.
Arsenal
Arsenal is in great form this season. Having lost only 1 game out of 6 with the rest of the matches resulting in wins has seen the gunners in the number 1 spot on the current standings. That being said Manchester City is in a close 2nd place with just 1 point separating the two teams.
Arsenal is a great team and has fought for the EPL crown many times, but few with such a great start. That being said the predictions for the title winner unfortunately are not current 1st position holders Arsenal. A quick look at the UK betting sites and their odds clearly paint the picture that Arsenal is set to lose once they come against larger and more dominant teams. Although betting odds aren’t always correct there’s a reason for the saying “the house always wins”.
Arenal in fact is predicted to finish 5th this year in the overall standings by the end of the season.
Manchester City
City is currently 2nd in the EPL standings, that being said they are just 1 point away from taking 1st. It’s no shock either, after all, Manchester City has been the crowned king for the EPL in four out of the last five seasons. Their domination was only stopped by Klopp’s mighty reds in the 19/20 season.
Since then, City has been victorious over the last two years and will look to make it three years in a row after losing out to make it a hattrick when they lost to Liverpool. Manchester City is once more predicted to be crowned champions for this year’s season.
Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
Tottenham is looking strong this season and currently sitting in a comfortable 3rd position and actually drawing on points with Manchester City. City has the advantage due to their outstanding 14-goal difference while current leaders, as well as Tottenham both, have just half the goal difference.
The gap is soon to widen though as City and the Hotspurs are to come to a clash for their next game. Odds currently favour Manchester City but it seems to be the case for almost every match.
Although the game has been postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a date is soon to be announced. Tottenham is predicted to land in 4th place by the end of the season and it’s clear to see why in their current stellar form.
Brighton
As it stands Brighton is in 4th place with Manchester United right up their tail. It’s fair to say Brighton has had a remarkable season thus far, unfortunately, the odds are not particularly in their favour considering there quite a small team when compared to EPL winners like United and yet still they managed to take victory when the two battled it out on the pitch on the 7th of August.
Brighton is set to settle a bit of beef with Bournemouth in their next match which has been postponed, this means that Brighton has again a chance to hold 4th place for a little longer. Brighton is predicted to finish 12th by the end of the season.
Man United
The red devils might have started on a bad foot this season, losing out on their first two games to Brighton and an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Brentford just a week later. Not a team to quickly throw in the towel, United have turned the season around and are on a current 4-game-win streak after defeating the current number one Arsenal as well as Liverpool in the progress.
United have been strong contenders for nearly every EPL season that has taken place. Although United are doing great so far they always seem to be under the shadow of Alex Ferguson, arguably one of the greatest managers to touch the field. Since then United have had a mood change and have been made famous for the number of managers they have sacked and tumbled down a vicious circle.
Nonetheless United is looking strong this season but not strong enough to be champions and hence they are predicted to land in 6th place.
