Football fans on the social media site Twitter today have been reacting to an amazing gesture by Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan.
Tan, known for being controversial and not exactly the most liked figure on the current Premier League scene, has been given deserved plaudits this evening for the gesture, a donation of £50,000 to the fund to find missing pilot David Ibbotson.
Ibbotson was flying new Cardiff signing Emiliano Sala to his new home of the Cardiff City Stadium during the January transfer window when their plane went missing in the English Channel.
After a lifeguard search was called off, a private search was launched to find the body of the former Nantes striker and it concluded when searchers were able to pull Sala’s body from the sunken Piper Malibu aircraft last week.
But Ibbotson remains missing and the fund for a private search has now been bolstered by Tan’s incredible gesture. Here are some of the best reaction Tweets to the donation…
