This was after their main title rivals Liverpool could only manage a draw away to West Ham United in the Monday Night Football.
Guardiola’s men chewed through the challenge of Marco Silva’s Toffees with ease, going ahead in first-half stoppage-time through defender Aymeric Laporte. And putting the cherry on the cake in the 97th minute when striker Gabriel Jesus struck.
The result caused widespread delight on football Twitter, with many anti-Liverpool fans desperately hoping that the Reds’ 29-year wait for an English league title will go on. Though it must be noted that Jurgen Klopp’s men still have a game-in-hand over Blue Moon.
