Premier League: Brighton vs Chelsea - tactical analysis tactics

Under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea had a dream run last season, winning the UEFA Champions League. This season, the German manager’s main target will be to win the Premier League and retain the European title. The odds are high on Chelsea betting this season.

Right now, everything is going well for Chelsea under Tuchel. Their defence is looking more vigorous, and the tactician is trying to make their attacks more dangerous. But the injuries to Timo Werner and Romelelu Lukaku will be a blow to the team. The match against Norwich City didn’t expose the absence of Lukaku upfront as Mason Mount took charge for attacking and ended up scoring a hattrick. The other academy graduates of Chelsea Reece James and Hudson-Odoi were also able to find the goals.

It will be a massive relief for Tuchel to see players stepping up when the team needed them the most.

Now let’s look at the European Champions’ performances in the UCL this season. They are in Group H with Juventus, Zenit and Malmo. It was a pretty easy group for Chelsea, considering the form they are on.

After finishing three matches, they are sitting second behind Juventus with six points.
Chelsea’s first match in the Champions League was against Zenit at Stamford Bridge. The first European match at the Bridge after becoming the UCL Champions. They won the game with a goal from Lukaku in the 69th minute. They dominated the game completely. But the team was not able to score more than one goal against the Russian league leaders.

The second group stage match was against Juventus. The Italians were going through the worst start in the league under Allegri. Chelsea was hoping to take advantage of the weakness of their opponents. But, it felt like the London club underestimated the Italians.

The goal from Federico Chiesa was enough for the Old Lady to beat the current European Champion. The defeat of Chelsea was a shock to the fans as they were not expecting it i8n any way. But the perfect defensive structure of Juve was enough to break the attacks of the Blues.

Chelsea came into the third match against Malmo by keeping the defeat against Juventus in mind. They were sure about the importance of the third match and how it would affect if they slip up once again.

Against Malmo, they performed exactly like a champion and thrashed them by four goals. Andreas Christensen opened the scoring at the 9th minute. Two penalties from Jorginho and another goal from Havertz sealed the game.

Chelsea is in a comfortable position in Group H. With just two wins, it will be easy to progress to the knockout stages.
