Finally, a European club competition final is set to take place with the Europa League set to finally crown its champion.
It has certainly been a long time coming, as the tournament had started over a year ago and preliminary stages for the 2020/21 edition of the competition have already begun.
Nonetheless, Sevilla and Inter Milan will go to battle and go up against each other at the RheinEnergieStadion in Germany to be crowned champions and earn themselves a route into the Champions League next season as winners.
Whilst making a prediction on the outcome of the Final can be a little difficult, it is as fun as using a new internet casino as the possibilities of being rewarded handsomely are endless.
But, who can be expected to lift the Europa League title when the two sides square off?
Sevilla
Firstly, Sevilla have plenty of history when it comes down to playing in arguably Europe’s second-best club competition as they have been able to win it on numerous occasions. They are in with a shout of winning the title for a record sixth time, having scooped an impressive three of them in consecutive seasons between 2013 and 2016.
Indeed, Julen Lopetegui’s side have had a challenging route to the final as well, as they have had to beat some stellar competition along the way. The Spanish outfit have downed the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United on their way to the RheinEnergieStadion.
Nonetheless, in their last four matches in the Europa League, Sevilla have shown that they can defend, as they have conceded just one goal – perhaps unsurprisingly, a Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes penalty.
Inter Milan
Inter Milan may have had an easier route to the Europa League final on paper, however they have still had to ensure that they got the job done. Indeed, Antonio Conte’s side hardly failed to let complacency become an issue, though.
The Italians dispatched the likes of Getafe, Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk comfortably – a 5-0 dismantling of the Ukrainians in the semi-final was impressive – but will arguably come up against their toughest challengers to date.
Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have proven incredibly effective in front of goal in the Europa League, however they will need to be at their very best if they are to have an opportunity of adding to their tallies against Sevilla.
Who to pick?
History would perhaps suggest that Sevilla have the best chance of securing a victory at the RheinEnergieStadion and that they will lift their sixth title within the Europa League. Their form in previous competitions would certainly help to further illustrate that point as they have gone on to win the tournament every time they have reached the quarter-finals.
Nonetheless, Inter Milan are no slouches and Conte will be a man desperate to add to his own trophy haul as he looks to continue to pile the pressure on the club’s owners regarding his recent demands and outbursts about his time at the club.
Add in the factors that their strikers are in a rich run of form in the Europa League, as well as the fact that they are coming off a dominating win against a Shakhtar Donetsk side that have the ability to produce problems for a number of top teams, the Italians might just be too difficult to look beyond.
Predicting the result of the match might be a little too difficult, but knowing that the Europa League final will produce a spectacle is an easy observation to make.
