Aaron Ramsey is on the cusp of joining Juventus on a four-year £400,000 a week deal, according to Goal. However, his current form for Arsenal has left the fanbase of the club leaking their lips over his imminent departure. “You get what you pay for, as the old popular parlance says. With this, the Welsh attacking midfielder may have justified he’s worth the amount that will be spent on him by the Old Lady over the four years contract he signed.

After succumbing to two defeats in the League earlier on in the season, Arsenal enjoyed a run of form that saw them unbeaten in 22 games. Although Ramsey was part of  Emery’s squad which earned so many plaudits but his form was peripheral and it was blamed on his future not being sorted at that time. Arsenal withdrew their contract offers for him despite being the longest-serving player at the club but in him, the Old Lady have found a top-notch midfielder.

Since putting pen to paper with the most dominant club in Serie A side Juventus in February, the Welsh box-to-box midfielder has been enjoying barnstorming form. Ramsey has recently brought his energy and intelligence to bare for Arsenal – certainly, the fans and owners of Juventus will be pleased with his recent show-off that has seen him score goals with reckless ease. He has that uncanny ability to arrive at the right time in the box, he is not just an excellent goal scorer but an exceptional footballer by all standards.

Under Wenger, Ramsey was deployed in a free role and sometimes on the flank. That often did not work well and Ramsey was mostly criticised. However, he has been reduced to a more central role by Emery, who obviously prefers him to start the press from the half of the opponent and play behind the striker. Ramsey is also absorbed of the duties of a deeper lying central midfielder. When his future was up in the air, Emery decided not to build his team around, so he played mostly from the bench.

Emery made an interesting revelation about Ramsey and Ozil recently.

“At first, I used information from last year or the last two years. Mesut can play like a No 10 player, or starting on the right or left, in a different system, and he has a good mentality. And also Aaron Ramsey can play in a system with two or three midfielders, getting more in the opposition box,” the Spanish manager said.

As you may have observed on in-play bets on your favorite sports events, the odds are slightly in favour of Arsenal to win the UEFA Europa Cup and end the Premier League season in a top-four spot. With Aaron Ramsey as one of the pivots of their squad, the Gunners are most likely going to end the season with their head up. Huge value can be placed on this Emery’s side as we have seen what they did in the first half of the season.

The biggest task for Arsenal this coming summer would be replacing Ramsey who is at the prime of his career. Emery and his men must ensure they look for a high quality midfielder with an engine like Ramsey’s. Not like the Welsh star is the best in the world but the Gunners must fork out so much money to others to get a professional and hard worker like him.
