Football fans have been reacting to bizarre comments made by Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about attacker Alexis Sanchez, on the social media site Twitter this morning.
Talking ahead of tonight’s Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Solksjaer, who suffered his first defeat as boss at Old Trafford against Paris Saint-Germain last Tuesday, compared the Chilean’s form to a bottle of ketchup.
The point that Solskjaer was trying to make was that sometimes you have to wait for things, like the beloved condiment sliding out one of its notorious glass bottles, and it’s exactly the same with Sanchez’s form. It’s there, just not coming out yet.
The South American has just four goals in 24 appearances in all competitions this campaign for club and country and is often criticised for his extortionate wages and poor form on the pitch.
Here is what some fans on Twitter made of the odd analogy this morning…
The most expensive condiment in the world ever

I’d pay 500k a week for ketchup

More like gone off mayonnaise.

Maybe the bottle of ketchup has just run out. Or the ketchup only comes out in the hands of the correct squeezer. But will it be you Mr Solskjaer? Are you the chosen one after Wenger. It clearly wasn’t Jose Mourinho.
